FAMILY BUSINESS

This development started in 2009, when developer Scott MacAulay, saw a need to create luxury vacation and part-time homes for ex-pat Cape Bretoners and those who visit for the first time but fall in love with our Island.

“There’s a great lifestyle here in Cape Breton and we want to offer a product that lets people from other parts of Canada and around the world come and experience it,” says Mr. MacAulay. “This is also a good alternative for Cape Bretoners living elsewhere who return for regular visits or who plan to retire here.”

Different ownership alternatives are being offered for those who are considering purchasing a Cape Breton Lifestyles property, including whole ownership or fractional ownership, which provides a number of weeks of use of a property over the course of a year. “This is the way resorts are being developed everywhere in Canada and the U.S., with different types of vacation property ownership being offered within a resort,” says MacAulay.

The MacAulay family has deep roots in Cape Breton’s tourism industry. Today, they own and operate one of the most historic resorts in the province, the Inverary Inn.

In 1971, The Inverary Inn in beautiful Baddeck became home to the MacAulay Family. Isobel and Danny MacAulay ran a modest Bed & Breakfast for visiting tourists for eight years and in 1979 their son, Scott MacAulay and his wife Terri became the Innkeepers. Throughout this time, they have developed and sold two other resorts in Cape Breton—Dundee Resort & Golf Club and the Glenghorm Beach Resort.

“I would like to personally invite everyone to come and visit us. If you are thinking of a future home or condo purchase on the Island, I am sure you will agree – this is the most unique development available.”
